Modern Dwellings
Modern looking, but not too contemporary
We were asked to design a large modern looking, but not too contemporary, dwelling using mainly brickwork as the external materials. The request was also for a low pitched roof with wider than normal overhanging eaves.
To achieve the look which our client requested we used long aluminium windows and a glazed aluminium front feature which emphasised the building’s height with painted rendered panels to the front to breaking up the brickwork to give a balanced and modern effect.
The internal layout reflects the Client’s needs for an open plan family living and cooking area, and provides a separated sitting area. Most bedrooms feature en-suite facilities, with a generous house bathroom, all finished to the highest specification reflecting our client’s wishes.
Traditional Dwellings
Traditional - Local stone
A more traditional approach to design was required on this infill site using local stone materials in a three storey configuration. A stone columned porch features on the front elevation.
Black faced coursed natural stone with clean stone surrounds featured as the predominant material highlighting the stone columns to the front porch. Dormer windows to the rear help to light the second floor accommodation.
The internal layout makes the best possible use of the building envelope on all three floors resulting in a spacious and user friendly arrangement for our client.
